Treat your taste buds to a locally sourced breakfast of buckwheat tarts with goat cheese and strawberries, wild boar bacon, shiitake spinache quiche, and organic, fair-trade coffee while learning more about owls at the International Owl Center’s Breakfast with the Owls fundraiser on June 29. You’ll also go home with your choice of exceptional owl art created by talented children from all over the world.
While many large non-profits host galas or balls to raise significant funds for their organizations, the International Owl Center was looking to do something that more authentically reflected the values and persona of the organization and the surrounding area. Thus the idea of the Breakfast with the Owls was hatched.
Local producers are donating their goods to put on the breakfast including Schech’s Mill, Buffalo Gal, Carlson Roasting Company, Ethan’s Eggs, Wold Strawberry Farm, Valley of the Goats, and some private individuals. The event will be held in true rural community fashion: at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, thanks to the church’s dedication to supporting the local community.
The event will feature a chance to meet the Center’s live owl ambassadors, the story of the Owl Center, and a live auction.
All proceeds from the event will go toward acquiring the building site for the Owl Center’s future home.
Cost to participate in the Breakfast with the Owls is $75/person or $600 for a table of eight. For more information or to register go to www.InternationalOwlCenter.org.
